What Happens Inside
Most purifiers are one filter in a plastic shell. These are sealed steel cabinets where the air passes through every stage before it reaches the room.
Large particle pre-filter
Hair, lint and visible dust. Catching these first is what stops the expensive filters downstream from clogging early.
Medium particle pre-filter
Pollen, mold spores and larger dust. Still ahead of the carbon, for the same reason.
Activated carbon
Gases, odors and VOCs, which a HEPA filter cannot touch. Measured in pounds of carbon, not in a thin coated sheet.

I was skeptical about paying this much for a bedroom unit. Three months later I'd pay double. The HEGA filter addresses the VOC and chemical triggers that disrupted my sleep. The noise on the lowest setting is genuinely peaceful — not acceptable white noise, actually quiet. Sleep quality has improved in a way that's hard to overstate. I've recommended it to three people and all three report the same results.
The C600 uses a Hepa Barrier filter instead of standard HEPA because standard HEPA binders can off-gas compounds that affect chemically sensitive people. That design choice tells you this unit was built for actual MCS sufferers, not just marketed to them. Combined with 26 pounds of impregnated carbon, it's genuinely different from everything else I've tried. My home trigger load is dramatically reduced.
We discovered mold after water damage. Post-remediation, I needed something for both residual spores and the VOCs from the remediation process.
